Polynucleotides are an injectable treatment that have similar effects to skin boosters, with the added benefit that they can be used around the delicate eye area where other products are not safe to be used. Extracted from the DNA of fish, the stretchy molecules mirror human skin cells. When injected into the skin they replicate the skin cells which results in the production of collagen and elastin, the molecules responsible for the youthful appearance of skin. As we age, the skin under our eyes becomes thinner resulting in the blue-ish undertone seen under the eye. By stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin (the structural proteins responsible for thickening of the skin), we reduce the appearance of under eye bags.

AgeJet is a treatment that utilises nitrogen plasma. Nitrogen plasma works by targeting ionised nitrogen particles in combination with ultra high radio-frequency onto the skin to remodel the dermal layer and kick start the skin's natural cycle. Used under the eye, the treatment works on the deepest layers of the skin, causing the skin cells to recharge and renew. The dead skin cells on the top layers of the skin form a crust and peel off, revealing bright new skin with improved tone and laxity. Unlike laser, nitrogen plasma is safe to use even directly onto the eyelids, which is why it’s being honed as the non-surgical alternative to a blepharoplasty.
Using an eye cream may seems like an obvious place to start when tackling dark under eye circles and eye bags. However, not all eye creams are made the same. At The Door W4, we recommend Obagi medical skincare products because they have clinical evidence to support the claims that their products make. ELASTIderm eye serum and eye cream from the Obagi medical range contain a patented “Bi-Mineral Contour Complex™”, this complex of minerals is designed to initiate the skin's natural production of elastin.
Known and loved amongst celebrities, Morpheus8 is a great option for treating the under eye area. The Morpheus8 prime tip is a 12 pin tip that is designed to be used specifically on areas of delicate skin such as the under eye area. The treatment works by needling twelve gold plated needles into the skins dermal layer and releasing targeted radio frequency to remodel the skin's structure. This remodelling simulates the production of collagen and elastin altering how the structures form to hold the skin together. The secondary effect of the needling causes the bodies wound healing response to produce collagen at the surface of the skin, this thickening of the epidermis reduces the appearance of dark circles.

The under eye area is a tricky area to treat which is why this service is only offered by our experienced trained doctors. As we age and the skin under the eyes loses elastin, the under eye area appears hollowed and a shadow is created by the lower eyelid resulting in dark under eye circles. With precision and expertise, small amounts of dermal filler can be injected into the area. The result alters the light reflection by filling areas of hollowing. This reduces the appearance of tired eyes.
