Upper Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid or eye lift surgery, is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids to achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance. The procedure can address droopy eyelids, puffy eyes and wrinkles around the eyes, helping rejuvenate and reverse the look of tired, sagging eyelids.
What is an Upper Blepharoplasty?
An Upper Blepharoplasty, commonly known as an 'eyelid lift', is a procedure that involves removing excess skin, fat, or muscle from the upper eyelids to correct drooping or sagging upper eyelids, which many of our clients find contribute to a tired appearance.
If you're looking for a solution for puffy eyes or a saggy eye remedy, an Upper Blepharoplasty at The Door, W4 could be the ideal treatment for you.
Why choose Upper Blepharoplasty?
Common reasons clients choose this procedure include:
- Ageing skin: Over time, skin loses elasticity and becomes looser, especially around the eyes.
- Hooded eyelids: Loose skin can cause the eyelids to appear heavy, creating a 'hooded' look.
- Aged appearance: Drooping eyelids can contribute to an older, tired-looking appearance.
- Makeup difficulties: Sagging skin can make applying eye makeup challenging.
- Vision issues: In severe cases, excess skin may obstruct vision.
- Discomfort: Heavy skin pressing down on the eyelids can lead to irritation and discomfort.
The Blepharoplasty surgery can help to create a more youthful, brighter eye and relieve discomfort from heavy skin pressing down on the eyelids. It is one of the best ways to remove puffy eyes without needing ongoing maintenance or touch-ups.

What happens during an upper blepharoplasty?
Local anaesthesia is used to numb the area, and then an incision is made in the crease of your eyelid where the skin would naturally fold. This means that any scarring is hidden in the crease of your eyelid leaving you with the most natural looking results possible. Excess fat, tissue and muscle from the eyelid is then removed to leave you with much more lifted eyes. Finally, the incision will be stitched up to get you ready for recovery.
Upper Blepharoplasty FAQs
An Upper Blepharoplasty procedure takes an average of 1 hour to complete. Every individual is different so some procedures may last a little longer and others may be a little shorter. Dr. Rohit Seth will advise you throughout the process to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
During the actual procedure, Dr. Rohit Seth uses a local anaesthetic around the eyes to numb the area, so the procedure is not painful at all. Whilst there may be some discomfort during recovery, it is generally quite minimal and can be easily managed at home.
An Upper Blepharoplasty produces long-lasting results, but it doesn't stop the aging process. Instead, your skin will age from it's newly rejuvenated state!
An Upper Blepharoplasty generally takes 1-2 weeks to heal. Every individual is different, so be sure to listen to your surgeon's advice for the best possible healing journey.
We would advise taking 2 weeks off work to recover from your Upper Blepharoplasty procedure, depending on the nature of your job. You won't be able to drive for a number of days after the surgery but those who work from home may be able to return to work sooner.
Every individual is different, so speak to your surgeon about the recovery process for a more in-depth view of what recovery might look like for you.
There is minimal scarring after an Upper Blepharoplasty and the small scar that is left is hidden in the crease of the eyelid, so won't be noticeable at all. Some patients have actually reported that their scars faded away completely over time.
Whilst an Upper Blepharoplasty doesn't directly influence the brows, many patients find that removing the excess skin of the upper eyelid automatically gives the appearance of a brow lift too.
After an Upper Blepharoplasty, you should avoid wearing contact lenses for approximately 2 weeks. This is to allow the eyes to heal as quickly as possible without the risk of infection. Speak to your surgeon if you have concerns about not being able to wear contact lenses for 2 weeks and they will be able to help provide some advice.
