Lumecca-I: IPL Therapy for Dry Eyes
Lumecca-I is a non-invasive treatment for dry eyes that uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy. By delivering light pulses around the eyes, it enhances the function of oil glands, helping reduce dryness and irritation. This treatment can offer long-term relief by restoring natural lubrication and improving tear quality.

What is Lumecca-I, and how does it work?
Lumecca-I is an advanced, non-surgical treatment utilising Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to alleviate dry eye symptoms. During the procedure, gentle light pulses are directed around the eyes to open blocked oil glands in the eyelids. These glands are responsible for producing oils that keep the eyes moist. When they become blocked or inflamed, it leads to dryness and discomfort. Lumecca-I helps reduce inflammation, allowing the glands to function properly and maintain natural eye lubrication. This makes it an ideal option for those with dry eyes, including contact lens wearers.
Why choose IPL for dry eyes?
Lumecca-I offers an effective solution for dry eyes by targeting malfunctioning oil glands in the eyelids. IPL therapy helps reduce gland blockages and inflammation, restoring their ability to produce oils that keep the eyes lubricated. This non-invasive treatment provides lasting relief without the need for downtime, making it an excellent alternative to traditional dry eye remedies.

FAQs
What does the treatment feel like?
During the treatment, you’ll feel flashes of light along with a sensation similar to a light snap from an elastic band. It’s normal to experience some redness and a slight warmth on the skin afterward, but this typically fades within an hour.
How long does one session take?
A typical Lumecca IPL session lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. The procedure itself is relatively quick, and you can often resume normal activities immediately afterward.
What can I expect after the treatment?
After the treatment, you may experience slight redness or mild discomfort around the eyes, but this typically resolves within a few hours. Most patients feel improvement in their dry eye symptoms within a few days to weeks following treatment.
How many treatments will I need to see results?
Most patients require a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart for optimal results. After the initial series, maintenance treatments may be recommended depending on the severity of your dry eye condition.
Can I have this treatment if I have sensitive skin or other eye conditions?
If you have certain eye conditions, such as active eye infections, severe rosacea, or skin sensitivities, Lumecca IPL may not be suitable for you. It’s important to discuss your medical history with us to determine if the treatment is right for you.
